Shopping tips for petite body

When you are shorter you feel conscious  all the time about your looks. You try out all options to look tall. And most of the dress won’t fit you. It will be extremely big or loose.

Here are few tips to follow for petite body type to look perfect and make you feel confident.

Prints

Choose smaller motifs in your printed dress which should not overpower your frame. Big prints can make your structure look smaller.

Armholes:

When shopping for tops and dresses make sure that your armhole doesn’t expose any of your bra.

Shoulder placement

Make sure the top of your sleeves sit on the body tops of your shoulders, rather than drooping down the arm.

Neckline

V Neck and scoop necks make you look taller

Waistline

Its key to stick with points that come with an inseam length as close to your correct inseam as possible for optimal fit.

Shape

Avoid anything too boxy or with loads of excess fabric, unless you can add shape with a belt around you waist.

How to choose the right footwear for sarees

The Indian saree is an attire that makes you look sexy as well as gorgeous in the most traditional manner. However, in order to maintain the elegance of a saree there are various things that you need to take care of in order to look your best in this beautiful Indian attire. Footwear being the most important of them all.

Like they say you can judge a man by his shoes, so can you ruin a beautiful saree by the wrong footwear.

A few points here, could help you overcome that fashion faux pas!

1.Always drape your saree with the selected footwear, so that you get an idea of the length of the saree.

2.Try to wear heels with saree because they make your outfit look better and also keep your saree’s edge clean.

3.Make sure that the heels are not shown under the hem of a saree. Drape your saree low waist to look sexy and hide the base of your heels.

4. Always choose footwear according to the theme of your saree and not its color. For e.g. red footwear on a red saree will make you look like a clown. But, a saree that has silver embroidery will look great with silver footwear.

5.Avoid wearing flats with saree as there is always a chance that you might trip over on the heavy pleats.

6.Do not wear sports shoes, wedges heels, boots, flip-flop and floaters with your saree under any circumstances as they would definitely account for a fashion faux pas!

Plus size fashion: Reality V/s Myths!

Exploding fashion myths for plus size women is long overdue. For years, full-figured women have lived with the same rules, avoiding many of the styles they really want to wear. They are fearful that something will make them look larger, broader or heavier. Too often, plus size women dress much as our mothers and grandmothers did, choosing black over bright colors, long skirts over short ones, and spending day after day at home in shapeless house dresses. It’s a new season, ladies, and time to explode these myths!

MYTH 1#

Plus size women should never wear horizontal stripes.

REALITY

In case you haven’t looked lately, horizontal stripes are everywhere. They’re showing up in dresses, blouses, sweaters and ponchos. Stripes are big on the fashion scene and horizontal, vertical and diagonal striped are almost equally popular. The best way to wear horizontal stripes is to break up the pattern with a blazer or colored pants.

MYTH 2#

Black is the only flattering color for fuller figures.

REALITY

Black is not the only choice for plus women. Black slacks and pants can pair with brilliant blouses and sweaters for amazingly flattering looks. Black jeans, jeggings and leggings can be worn with a spectrum of plaids, paisleys, prints and patterns by women of all sizes. Black dresses are an integral part of nearly every woman’s wardrobe and are flattering to all sizes. Wearing black is fine, but limiting yourself to black is discouraging. On the other hand fact is  all the solid, bold hues are equally slimming.

MYTH 3#

Peplums add volume.

REALITY

A streamlined pencil skirt with a peplum creates an hourglass shape. The beauty of a peplum is that it creates the illusion of a waist for those who might not have much definition in that area, and for those who do have a waist it’s one of those styles that accentuates the waist and forgives the muffin tops / tummy area. The hem of the peplum should hit just above the fullest part of the hip for optimal visual impact.  The eye will follow the hip curve as it bends towards the waist and disappears into the peplum.  Regardless of tummy or muffin bulge (which disappears under the peplum anyway), this is the most pleasing hem placement for that reason.

MYTH 4#

Patterned pants draw attention to a heavy bottom.

REALITY

Black is slimming but gets boring! If the cut of the garment flatters your figure, you can wear just about anything you like including prints. When wearing patterns, opt for ones in a larger scale which camouflage lumps and bumps. For the ultimate slimming effect, look for patterns with darker backgrounds.

5 Tips for Glowing skin in summers.

It is easy to neglect our skin in the summer. The warmer, more humid weather means our skin isn’t as dry and itchy as it is in the winter; and the sun-kissed look of a tan can make us feel better when we look in the mirror. But the lazy days of summer don’t mean we should be lazy with our skin care regime; in fact, it means we should be even more diligent. Follow these five easy steps for gorgeous glowing skin.

Use Face wash

best-face-wash

Clean your face at least twice a day. Keep a routine to wash your face once in morning and evening. Choose a cleanser which is gentle for your skin type. Look for a cleanser with mild AH or BH acids or papaya-based products. The enzymes in papaya helps to remove dead skin cells and also helps in new skin growth.

Exfoliate your skin

You should exfoliate your skin two to three times a week as it will help in removing unwanted dead skin which may be clogging your pores and also improving blood circulation to the face.

Apply Sunscreens

Sunscreen is the best way by which your skin is protected. Choose a sunscreen which has a combination of sunscreen and moisturiser. You need to nourish your skin with vitamins and anti-oxidants for long term benefits. Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before stepping out.

Apply Water proof Makeup

Make-up becomes a mess during summer because of the rise in temperature. Use light make-up which is water proof. When it is too hot try and keep your natural glow of your skin.

Avoid aerated drinks

Aerated drinks contain lots of sugar which is not good for your face instead drink water, fresh lime, fresh fruit juices or coconut water. You should also minimise the intake of alcohol and caffeine as they reduce the water content from the body system.

Keep in mind all the above mentioned summer skin care tips to keep your skin fresh and glowing. Also, having a proper balanced diet will help maintain the body functioning. Working out for 45 minutes a day will keep you fit and healthy.

Magic Styling Tips for Plus Size: Part 2

kkkkkkkk

Playing with the placements of patterns in your dress is smartest move to create illusion. Right placement of a pattern on the dress is like a camouflage as the right mix will make the eye bounce around, rather than stick upon your pitfalls.

MIX PRINTS WITH REPETITIVE COLOR (Best suitable for Triangle body shape)

triangle sss

Mix the prints with the shades of the same color and place the patterns according to the assets and the pitfalls of your body shape creating a monochromatic look which automatically gives a flattering look.

As in the image above, patterns with lighter shades are placed at the upper half and patterns with darker shades are placed at the bottom half. The placements of the print makes the model look proportionate and giving a flattering look due to the monochromatic look all over.

USE SOLID TO BREAK THE PRINTS (Best suitable for Wide Rectangle)

Combining the solids with prints creates an automatic balance in the design. The break created by the solid color helps in creating an illusion of curves at the desired areas.

As in the picture above, solid color is placed at the waist breaking the monotonous direction of the prints. This break is creating an illusion of curve at the waist line, where as the print is making the body look proportionate.
