Your Holi Guide

The smell of spring flowers always brings with it the undying spirit of Holi! And of course we all know that though Holi might be super Fun, the aftermath of those chemical colors on your skin is disastrous!

Worry not, this year we have got some hacks to get you through the Festival of Colors. Read on to find out more 🙂

1. Put on your Worst Clothes

The real fun of Holi is enjoyed in last year’s Trashed Clothes! Not only paint, but also eggs, tomatoes and many other flying objects might be thrown at you from all different angles and there’s no way you’ll be able to wash your clothes!

2. Wash, dry, and oil your hair

Many of us avoid washing our hair before going to play Holi, but in reality the pre-dirt already existing in our scalp mixed with the colors damages the hair further more thus making it rougher. So wash and condition your hair well. Then apply significant amount of coconut oil or olive oil in your hair. This will prevent colors from settling down on your scalp.

3. Paint those nails

Holi colors often leave unappealing multi-colored nails. To avoid this, apply double coat of a dark, good-quality nail paint. After playing with colors, just use a nail-paint remover to remove the nail color and your nails will be as good as New!

4. Use kitchen ingredients to wash of color

After you have played colors, prepare a mix of gram flour, honey, and milk and use that as a gentle scrub for face and body. It will easily take the color off your skin, leaving your skin glowing and smooth. For added nourishment, apply fresh aloe vera gel on your body.

5. Deep condition your hair

Ideally, you should do this the same day after playing with colors,  as hair tends to get damaged easily with colors. Put two tablespoon of honey in a bowl, and then add two eggs and one tablespoon of coconut oil. Blend the ingredients well. Apply this on hair, and leave it for 40-60 minutes so that it can dry. Wash it off with a mild shampoo and regular conditioner.

Remedies for Whitening Dark Underarms

Dark coloration of the skin in the underarms / armpits region is usually not a disease or medical condition. The main causes of dark underarms are shaving, using chemicals laden hair removing creams, buildup of dead skin cells, poor ventilation in the armpits region, and regular use of alcohol based deodorants and antiperspirants. Naturally Bleach Underarms With Potato To Get Rid Of Underarm Darkness

Potato has mild acidic properties that act as great natural bleaching agent.

Use those Cucumbers

Mix lime juice with cucumber juice and add a pinch of turmeric to it. Lemon bleaches and removes dead cells, cucumber provides cooling effect and turmeric prevents discolouration. It is actually an Ayurvedic remedy- so easy that you can do it everyday without any hassle!

Exfoliate Underarms with Natural Scrubs

Take some lemon juice and add brown sugar or granulated sugar. Apply on underarms and leave for 5-10 minutes. Then with little wet fingers, rub your underarms gently feeling the granules of the sugar. This will excellently exfoliate your skin along with lightening it. Wash off after few minutes. This scrub is particularly useful for you if you got your dark underarms as a result of shaving.

Orange Peels for Fruity Treatment of Dark Underarms

Dry the orange peel in shade.Grind the peel to get its powder.Take some rose water and milk.Add the powdered orange peel to this rose water and milk and mix well to get a thick paste.Apply this paste to your underarms and gently scrub the area for about 10 minutes.Wash off with cold water.

TOMATO + YOGURT + LEMON JUICE

  • Pour the Tomato Pulp into a bowl.
  • Squeeze in your Lemon.
  • Add your Yogurt into the mix.
  • Apply this pack keep it for 30 minutes.
  • Wash it off with some cold water.
  • Apply moisturizer.

OATMEAL + BUTTERMILK + HONEY

  • Pour the Oatmeal into a container.
  • Now add your Buttermilk.
  • Mix in your Honey.
  • Apply the pack on your face, arms and legs.
  • Keep it for 15 to 20 minutes and then Wash off with cold water.
  • Apply moisturizer.

GLYCERINE + SUGAR + LEMON JUICE

  • Take the Lemon Juice in a bowl.
  • Add Sugar to it.
  • Now add your Glycerin to it.
  • Apply the pack as a scrub and gently use an upward massaging motion to rub.
  • Repeat the scrubbing for 10-15 minutes
  • Rinse off the pack with water.

The Problem: Aging Skin 

The Fix: A decadent, antioxidant packed cocoa mask replenishes moisture and gives your skin a restored, youthful appearance.

The Recipe: 1 teaspoon cocoa powder, 1 teaspoon sour cream, 1teaspoon honey and 1 egg white. Apply this mixture all over your face and wait for it to dry up.

The Problem: Oily Skin

The Fix: Regulate your skin’s PH Level with apple cider’s high level of alpha-hydroxy acids and remove excess oil.

The Recipe: 3 teaspoons ground oats, 1/4 teaspoon apple cider, 1/4 teaspoon lemon juice and 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar. Apply this to a freshly cleansed skin and leave it on for 10minutes.

The Problem: Environmental Damage

The Fix: Detox your face with a soothing berry mask. Anti-oxidants in blueberries protect the skin against free radials and repairs previous damage.

The Recipe: 1 teaspoon crushed ripe blueberries, 1 teaspoon lemon juice, 1teaspoon cucumber juice, 2 teaspoons of baking soda and 2 teaspoons of water. Let this mixture sit on your skin for 15-20minutes and then wash it with lukewarm water.

The Problem: Acne-Prone Skin

The Fix: Cook up a marvelous white tea skin toner with influences all the way from Eastern Asia.

The Recipe: 1 teaspoon peppermint tea leaves, 4 teaspoons of white tea leaves, 1/2 cup of boiled water and 2 drops of lavender oil.Let this steep for 10minutes before pouring it into a glass container. Then combine this with aloe vera gel and store in the refrigerator before spritzing.

The Problem: Dry Skin Patches 

The Fix: Coconut milk is loaded with hydrating, healthy fats and ginger decreases inflammation and detoxifies skin.

The Recipe: 1/2 cup coconut milk, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon ginger paste and 1/2 cup brown rice blended into a paste in a blender. Rub this mixture on your skin in a circular motion with your hands, it works as a very effective scrub.
