Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2017

lakme-fashion-week-s%2fr-2017The Lakme Fashion Week Summer/Resort 2017 unveiled an event that was bigger and better than the previous seasons! This was also one of the reasons to shift their venue from the usual to BKC Jio Gardens.

Boy ! aren’t we excited to give you all the updates about this amazing week that went by and has left us craving for more.

Here’s a glimpse of the events by the different designers. Some seasoned veterans while others carefully stepping onto this glamorous world of fashion. While the event kept up to its words of inclusivity, diversity, creativity and fresh energy, we also saw for the first time Anjali Lama, a Nepali transgender model who was amongst the 5 shortlisted fresh faces auditioned to walk the ramp.

MONISHA JAISING

With the setting sun over the Arabian Sea, Monisha Jaising showcased her collection on a cruise liner. Her theme revolved around ‘controlled bling’ on dresses, gowns and cocktail sarees. Sonakshi Sinha looked splendid in a burnt yellow cocktail gown with a long train.

FARAH SANJANA

Models strutted down the runway in summery jumpsuits, slit palazzos and denim battle jackets. Kiara Advani pulled a Priyanka Chopra at the Emmys and twirled her printed skirt and peplum choli for all its worth.

TARUN TAHILIANI

Tarun’s collection titled ‘Chashme Shahi’ has clothes that have an element of fantasy and romance.” Aptly inspired from the Mughal gardens that ooze freshness of the spring. Sheer light textures and lots of layering — a Tarun Tahiliani trademark embodies the feeling of a summer breeze.

KA-SHA

Karishma Shahani Khan’s label is one to remember especially when you want to go traditional but at the same time not going overboard. Oversized silhouettes and anti-fit were prevalent throughout, with a preference for Khadi, Chanderi and Mul for fabrics. Sarees got a makeover with ruffled edges.

ANUSHREE REDDY

Anushree showcased her signature style of florals in pastel shades of pink and green. She included this season’s classics of offshoulder and shoulder show tunics and tops.

GAURANG SHAH

Gaurang Shah showcased a collection of white traditional wear in muslin interspersed with gold details. We loved how the dupattas were draped across the voluminous silhouettes lending a majestic air to the whole affair.

ANITA DONGRE

Anita Dongre’s surreal dream inspired from the golden sands of Rajasthan with all the flora and fauna that it encompasses was just the purrrfect ending to the Lakme Fashion Week. Ethereal gowns, pristine white midis and cream lehengas was set so well with the theme.

Street Style Trends – Fall ’16

untitled-1

Every year we experience two annual events which call out to all the Fashionistas around the world to put their best foot forward. Yes, you guessed it right – the much awaited Fashion Weeks at the top four fashion capitals of the world, often referred to as the “Big 4” by the “IT Girls” of fashion’s inner circles.

Fashion Weeks are sacred, much like the pilgrimages you take as an adherent disciple; but for those of us who have devoted an irreplaceable, integral part of our lives to fashion – this is as far as we get.  Models, designers, reporters and bloggers – everyone who is someone in fashion’s elite circles can be spotted in flawless couture strutting through the high streets of these fashion capitals.

And when we say Flawless, we mean F-L-A-W-L-E-S-S!

Documenting these elaborate street styles has become an even more crucial part of these events, rather than the exquisite avant-garde ensembles parading down the runways. And many a times one might come across a runway collection so inspired from these street styles that it re-establishes our faith in the “Trickle-Up Theory”.

So Ladies, it’s time to take a cue from these Style Divas and gear up for Fall ’16.

5 Trends from Amazon India Fashion Week 16′

Untitled-1

The much awaited 5 days of the Amazon India Fashion Week have come to an end and it’s time to sum up our learnings from this year’s Fashion Week.

Fashion week always means a potpourri of art, culture and lifestyle with fashion, of course this year was no different. Amidst all that hustle-bustle of the models, designers and their crews, we managed to summarize this Winter’s top trends so keep reading girlies 🙂

ROMANCE WITH LACE

Designers Shantanu & Nikhil did some serious Trendsetting with their range of Vintage Lace apparel. With heavy drapes and silhouettes which spell Romance, this collection was definitely one of our favourites! shantanu-nikhil

COMFORTABLE IN YOUR SKIN

This year is majorly about those anti-fit silhouttes and the concept of comfort dressing. We spotted some beautiful styles in Malini Ramani’s collection for Bodice, no defining lines or clinging waists – we loved how the designer played around with straight and flared lines for that relaxed appeal.

ANDROGYNY LOVERS

Strong, boxy lines inspired from Menswear took over the Runway and how! Fabric selections were made keeping the inspiration in mind hence we see a lot of Menswear suiting fabrics which in-turn shape the concept of Androgynous clothes for women. We loved how Rajesh Pratap Singh nailed the art of the Pantsuit!

LAYER IT UP

With winter comes the inevitable theory of Layering! Pankaj & Nidhi bowled us over with their range of layered ensembles which had this brilliant surface texture that just made it one of the best layered collections!

INTRODUCING ATH-LEISURE

As the name suggests, this is all about the juxtaposition of Athletic wear with Leisure wear. Designer Sanchita showcased an ath-leisure collection by using sports wear detailing and combining them with traditional silhouettes. It was quite a winner!

The fashion week fun might be over but we are surely left with some impeccable trends that will get us through the Winter of 2016!

With the New York Fashion Week over, we come to the inevitable forecasting the of biggest trends!

While a few trends are powerful leftovers from last fall (statement fur, thoughtful layering), others definitely feel all bright and new!

RUFFLES

The designers managed to fuse structured high-fashion ruffles with wearability!

TAN LOVING

Tan is perhaps the chicest color to sport this Season, ranging from muted khaki to soft camel.

SHINE ON

Metallics, and especially Gold, can most definitely be the seasonal standout!

MUTE THOSE PLAIDS

Fall runways definitely brought more tartan than we can handle, but this Season, labels definitely approached plaids in a much cleaner, subtler and muted way!

SHOW OFF THOSE SHOULDERS

Taking cues from the fact that the shoulder-show trend was massive in the retail space throughout 2015, designers amped up their offering for 2016!

SUIT-UP

Slim, stylish, and mostly colorful, the new power suit is just totally suitable for a night out!

Sanjay Garg at AIWF S/S ’16

SanjayGarg

We cannot get enough those dreamy Mashru calf-length kurtas by Sanjay Garg at Amazon India Fashion Week Spring/Summer ’16.

Mashru fabric with cotton on one side and silk on the other, originated as a way for Muslims to wear silk without breaking sharia law, which prohibits the luxury of wearing silk.

Beautifully crafted, underrated opulence was the call of the day. Garg explored three different variations of it for his latest collection–the gulbadan, with delicate floral motifs; the danedar, in which floats of cotton weft resemble polka dots; and ashrafi, a circular motif reflective of ancient coins, filled with an intricate chevron pattern.

The Glamorous Greens

The stand-out pieces were definitely the calf-length kurtas with the cigarette fit pants, detailed with gold tone-on-tone motifs and subtle stripes.

We were bowled over by these pieces, were you?
