Shopping tips for petite body

When you are shorter you feel conscious  all the time about your looks. You try out all options to look tall. And most of the dress won’t fit you. It will be extremely big or loose.

Here are few tips to follow for petite body type to look perfect and make you feel confident.

Prints

Choose smaller motifs in your printed dress which should not overpower your frame. Big prints can make your structure look smaller.

Armholes:

When shopping for tops and dresses make sure that your armhole doesn’t expose any of your bra.

Shoulder placement

Make sure the top of your sleeves sit on the body tops of your shoulders, rather than drooping down the arm.

Neckline

V Neck and scoop necks make you look taller

Waistline

If tops and dresses taper in or have seams on the waistline, make sure it lines up with your actual waist.

Pant inseam

Its key to stick with points that come with an inseam length as close to your correct inseam as possible for optimal fit.

Shape

Avoid anything too boxy or with loads of excess fabric, unless you can add shape with a belt around you waist.

Take good care of skin: Don’t forget that monsoons demand a little extra care for your skin, as there is already a lot of moisture in the air that can make your skin rough and dull. Use skin packs to keep your skin breathing.

Jeans Guide: How to choose a perfect fit for your body type?

Jeans are a fashion staple in every woman’s closet, but the style of the jeans you wear can make or break your look. If you choose your jeans based on your body shape, you’ll be able to confidently put your best foot forward whenever you step out of the house.

All of us have different shapes, sizes and styles, so finding the right pair of jeans can be a task. Luckily there are tips and tricks for each of you for finding the perfect pair of jeans! All you need to do is follow a few of these steps and remember them when heading to the changing room of your latest denim department.

hourglass

Hourglass Bodyshape

You ladies are a lot luckier with this body shape as you can get away with most things and look great. With a hip to bust ratio of 50/50 and a slim waist, it’s all about the styling and keeping your proportions balanced. Here are some great jeans to look for:

Skinny Jeans – These are the most flattering on hourglass shapes. Your chest and hips are in proportion with each other already so showing your legs off in skinnies only highlights that point. Bootcut jeans can actually overwhelm you and hide your frame.

Higher rises – High rises are recommended because the waistband will sit at the smallest part of your waist, this will also give the illusion of an even slimmer middle.

Medium size back pockets – Don’t go too big or too small with your back pocket sizing, it’s important to enhance your butt so choose wisely!

Skinny flare – If you want to do flared jeans, I would say choose a pair that are tight and skinny all the way to the knee and then give off a slight flare. This is much more flattering.

Flares – If you are a much more curvy hourglass that above and carry a lot of weight on the hips, a flared jean will really help balance that out.

rectangle

Rectangle Bodyshape

Most often like the super model shape with extra height, long legs and a straighter hip area, you can find it hard to get jeans to fit in length and be flattering and feminine. Don’t worry though, there are plenty of choices for you. Look out for these:

Inseams – If you want to go for a smart look, long inseams are the way to go as they will make you sleek and clean. If you prefer something more fashionable and love the look of jeans with ankle boots, go for a cropped skinny and cuff them with your ankle boots. This will give more depth to your shape and lessen your height a little bit while looking chic.

Skinny Jeans – Skinnies are always your best friend as they show off your figure beautifully. Just be sure to pick the most flattering pair for your butt and thighs.

Skinny Flares – You can also get away with skinny flares as you have the height to pull it off. Don’t do baggy flares as they will overwhelm you, so make sure the flare starts below the knee and the fit above is tight.

Rises – If you want to show off your height, go for a high rise, but if you want to make your legs more proportional, a low rise will work wonders.

Boyfriend Jeans – Luckily, you can get away with boyfriend jeans and make them look amazing! Go for a slimmer fitting boyfriend and it will look great.

triangle

Triangle bodyshape

With more curves around the hip and butt and a smaller upper half, it can be harder to find jeans that balance out your proportions and are flattering rather than awkward. You look out for jeans with these fits:

Bootcut or wider flares – These will help balance out the hips and keep your legs in proportion with the extra fabric around the calves.

Long inseams – Having a longer length means you can wear heels under your flares and bootcut jeans. This will of course elongate your legs and make them look slimmer.

Higher rises – You should buy jeans with a higher rise as they are very balancing to your shape.

Larger pockets – It’s important to enhance your booty since you are blessed with it, so look for larger back pockets as small ones can make it look bigger.

Stretch denim – Always look for stretch denim as it will hug your body better, creating a more sleek silhouette. Plus, it’s not as restricting as rigid denim.

Boots – If you do want to go for a skinny jean,  you should tuck them into boots as it will help balance out the hips more and create a better shape.

Inverted Triangle Bodyshape

Round Body Shape

For those of you who carry your issues around your tummy area and always struggle to find jeans that are flattering or give you that shape you are looking for, there’s definitely options for you too! Embrace your body shape and work with it rather than against it. These are some tips to look for:

Skinny Jeans – Skinny jeans can look really good when they are paired with a floaty, gypsy style top as this will hide your problem area but the skinnies will still be fitted, creating a balanced look.

Rises – If you are more curvy and you want to hide your stomach, you should opt for a high rise jean as this will hold everything in. If you are a more slimmer apple shape then lower rise jeans can give you a more curvy appearance.

Trouser Jeans – If you want to balance things out, you should go for a trouser style jean as the wider leg from hip to foot will help with proportions.

Plus size fashion: Reality V/s Myths!

Exploding fashion myths for plus size women is long overdue. For years, full-figured women have lived with the same rules, avoiding many of the styles they really want to wear. They are fearful that something will make them look larger, broader or heavier. Too often, plus size women dress much as our mothers and grandmothers did, choosing black over bright colors, long skirts over short ones, and spending day after day at home in shapeless house dresses. It’s a new season, ladies, and time to explode these myths!

2015-Womens-Fall-Fashion-Sexy-Backless-Bodycon-font-b-Pencil-b-font-font-b-Dress-b

MYTH 1#

Plus size women should never wear horizontal stripes.

REALITY

In case you haven’t looked lately, horizontal stripes are everywhere. They’re showing up in dresses, blouses, sweaters and ponchos. Stripes are big on the fashion scene and horizontal, vertical and diagonal striped are almost equally popular. The best way to wear horizontal stripes is to break up the pattern with a blazer or colored pants.

MYTH 2#

Black is the only flattering color for fuller figures.

REALITY

Black is not the only choice for plus women. Black slacks and pants can pair with brilliant blouses and sweaters for amazingly flattering looks. Black jeans, jeggings and leggings can be worn with a spectrum of plaids, paisleys, prints and patterns by women of all sizes. Black dresses are an integral part of nearly every woman’s wardrobe and are flattering to all sizes. Wearing black is fine, but limiting yourself to black is discouraging. On the other hand fact is  all the solid, bold hues are equally slimming.

MYTH 3#

Peplums add volume.

REALITY

A streamlined pencil skirt with a peplum creates an hourglass shape. The beauty of a peplum is that it creates the illusion of a waist for those who might not have much definition in that area, and for those who do have a waist it’s one of those styles that accentuates the waist and forgives the muffin tops / tummy area. The hem of the peplum should hit just above the fullest part of the hip for optimal visual impact.  The eye will follow the hip curve as it bends towards the waist and disappears into the peplum.  Regardless of tummy or muffin bulge (which disappears under the peplum anyway), this is the most pleasing hem placement for that reason.

girls_with_curves

MYTH 4#

Patterned pants draw attention to a heavy bottom.

REALITY

Black is slimming but gets boring! If the cut of the garment flatters your figure, you can wear just about anything you like including prints. When wearing patterns, opt for ones in a larger scale which camouflage lumps and bumps. For the ultimate slimming effect, look for patterns with darker backgrounds.

Guide to choose right type of panties for different styles.

Adriana Lima said once “Lingerie is one of the most important pieces of your wardrobe. You can have a wardrobe malfunction if you don’t choose the right thing to wear underneath!Panty is one of the important parts of the basic lingerie any woman wears. Most girls start their daily regime by changing the pair of underwear. It is the backbone of a wardrobe, along with right fitted bras. Girls should put equal consideration in selecting the panty, as much as they pay attention in choosing the correct bra.

Girls have a love/hate relationship with their panties. The correct panty with a particular dress can you make you feel confident and comfortable. Whereas, the wrong pair can even lead you to a wardrobe malfunction! Girls wear a variety of dresses and hence require different types of underwear for different occasions. You cannot just wear the black boy shorts with a sheer skirt or a thong under your flown floor length dress. So, what does a girl need to do? Let us help you with the basic of underwear and discuss how to wear them correctly with any dress.

Fit & Flare

skater style

If you are planning to wear styles like A-line, Skater, fit & flare or empire cuts, always go with boy shorts or hipsters ! The fair cut of the panty covers more than what the traditional brief or thong covers. This will save you from the wardrobe malfunction induced by summer breeze.

Body Hugging

bodycon

If you are all set to flaunt your curves with styles like: bodycon, sheath or shift. You should look for a foundation undergarment matching with the length of your bottoms. Thongs or seamless actually are the best underwear for formfitting clothing like dresses or tight skirts, as it leaves no panty lines.

Denims

denims

Not too many girls like the granny panties/ full coverage and rather find it geek. It may be not the sexiest of the bunch, but obviously is a safe and comfortable choice to wear with tight fitted denims. It gives maximum coverage to the underneath parts of the body and raises your level of comfort. Hipsters are also good choice to wear under denims.

Jeggings/ Leggings

jeggings

Seamless panties or hipsters are the best bet for wearing under jeggings or leggings. As These styles will give full coverage leaving no panty lines. If  the color of your jeggings/ leggings is white or any other lighter shade then select panty that is close to your skin tone. You can also try nude thongs to avoid the squeezed look caused by singular thin strap. In case you do not have skin color underwear in your wardrobe, you can wear light grey underwear with white pants. Grey hipsters or hip-huggers can form a comfortable undergarment to white shorts.

indian wear

If you want to wear traditional Indian dresses like, kurtis, suits, sarees or lehngas.  The best panty styles for indian wear is probably the regular briefs or bikini style. It gives a proper shape below the underskirt or the petticoat. The bottom hence looks more firm.

There are multiple styles of women’s underwear for all range of occasions. Going forward whenever you plan to buy new underwear, take the correct measurements and get yourself the right sized underwear for the best comfort. You basically have to know the correct hip and waist measurement of your body to decide the underwear sizing.

Maximise Your Style Quotient With Maxi’s!!

I know for a fact that maxi skirts are not the latest trend, but they are very much IN right now, and have been since 2016.

This, is for those like me.. hear my message loud and clear: It’s time to crack open the cupboard of ‘would be’s’ and ‘may be’s’.

Most people think that the Maxi skirt is a staple item in any girl’s wardrobe. This is a misconception. But then again, most people also believe that the maxi skirt can’t be worn by just anyone, only the slim-slender-supermodels can carry it off. Another misconception.

And that is why, I have decided that it is time for some serious advice and enlightenment. So, let’s begin..

There are many types of maxi skirts out in the market. One of them is sure to fit your body type and appeal to your personality. Let me just name a few: A-line, Pleated, Flared, Asymmetric, Poofed, Tie-waist etc.

Here’s what I do with my maxi’s, depending on my mood:

EFFORTLESS AND CASUAL:

Now there isn’t much to explain here. It’s effortless, it’s casual, but it’s soo totally chic. A black and white straight-fit maxi paired with an oversized off-shoulder yellow top, (tie one corner of it into a knot) and carry along a black fringe bag! Wear black platform sandals and tie your hair up in a high pony-tail to complete the look!

Screen Shot 2017-04-27 at 10.50.49 AM

BOHEMIAN BABE:

This is what I wore on a summery brunch date and let me tell you, it was a total hit! You’re looking at delicacy, femininity and dainty-ness all packaged into one outfit! A pastel pleated chiffon maxi with a pearl white lace crop top and a gold thin waist-belt to go with it! Just wear strappy gold sandals and a statement accessory – I’m in love with cuffs! Can’t go wrong with this one!

Screen Shot 2017-04-27 at 11.58.37 AM

IT’S RED:

Here’s the last one for the day..

It’s bold. It’s daring. It’s sexy. It’s red! It’s what you wear to a party at night..

A ‘look at me’ red chiffon flared maxi, paired with a black sequin crop top and a leather jacket in black with zip details! Wear black stiletto boots to rock this look. The only secret ingredient left is a pair of ear-cuffs and you’re ready to have a wild night out!

Screen Shot 2017-04-27 at 12.07.12 PM

If you’re bold enough to put this on, then congratulations – you’ve mastered the art of the maxi! And it doesn’t just stop here, there are so many more styles to explore..

Now, I’ve only got one last bit of advice left to share: Don’t let people tell you that you can’t have too much of a good thing. Because, trust me, you can never have enough maxis. There are too many to choose from and too few you can say NO to!
