I know for a fact that maxi skirts are not the latest trend, but they are very much IN right now, and have been since 2016.
This, is for those like me.. hear my message loud and clear: It’s time to crack open the cupboard of ‘would be’s’ and ‘may be’s’.
Most people think that the Maxi skirt is a staple item in any girl’s wardrobe. This is a misconception. But then again, most people also believe that the maxi skirt can’t be worn by just anyone, only the slim-slender-supermodels can carry it off. Another misconception.
And that is why, I have decided that it is time for some serious advice and enlightenment. So, let’s begin..
There are many types of maxi skirts out in the market. One of them is sure to fit your body type and appeal to your personality. Let me just name a few: A-line, Pleated, Flared, Asymmetric, Poofed, Tie-waist etc.
Here’s what I do with my maxi’s, depending on my mood:
EFFORTLESS AND CASUAL:
Now there isn’t much to explain here. It’s effortless, it’s casual, but it’s soo totally chic. A black and white straight-fit maxi paired with an oversized off-shoulder yellow top, (tie one corner of it into a knot) and carry along a black fringe bag! Wear black platform sandals and tie your hair up in a high pony-tail to complete the look!
This is what I wore on a summery brunch date and let me tell you, it was a total hit! You’re looking at delicacy, femininity and dainty-ness all packaged into one outfit! A pastel pleated chiffon maxi with a pearl white lace crop top and a gold thin waist-belt to go with it! Just wear strappy gold sandals and a statement accessory – I’m in love with cuffs! Can’t go wrong with this one!
Here’s the last one for the day..
It’s bold. It’s daring. It’s sexy. It’s red! It’s what you wear to a party at night..
A ‘look at me’ red chiffon flared maxi, paired with a black sequin crop top and a leather jacket in black with zip details! Wear black stiletto boots to rock this look. The only secret ingredient left is a pair of ear-cuffs and you’re ready to have a wild night out!
If you’re bold enough to put this on, then congratulations – you’ve mastered the art of the maxi! And it doesn’t just stop here, there are so many more styles to explore..
Now, I’ve only got one last bit of advice left to share: Don’t let people tell you that you can’t have too much of a good thing. Because, trust me, you can never have enough maxis. There are too many to choose from and too few you can say NO to!
