Revamp your work hairdos

Styling your hair for work can become a chore if you don’t get creative. But who doesn’t want to look and feel great everyday at work?! So let’s help you get innovative by churning up some new hairstyles from the boring old ones! Here are 5 different styles.

1. Ponytail with a twist

Get this hairstyle by dividing your ponytail into two sections. Twist one section and wrap around the other section to create this casually twisted ponytail.

1

2. Low knot

You can wear this on either side or at the center, and go polished or messy too. We say, just go with your mood!

2

3. Knotted ponytail

This is a cross between a braid and a ponytail. It works well with different hair lengths too. Separate your hair into two parts. Knot it and move on. You can repeat this process depending on the length of your hair.

3

4. High ponytail

Want to flaunt your chiseled jawline and cheekbones? The high ponytail is just what you should try. This also works well for thin hair.

4

5. Side braid

Enhance the simple braid by flaunting it to one side.

How to choose the right footwear for sarees

The Indian saree is an attire that makes you look sexy as well as gorgeous in the most traditional manner. However, in order to maintain the elegance of a saree there are various things that you need to take care of in order to look your best in this beautiful Indian attire. Footwear being the most important of them all.

Like they say you can judge a man by his shoes, so can you ruin a beautiful saree by the wrong footwear.

A few points here, could help you overcome that fashion faux pas!

1.Always drape your saree with the selected footwear, so that you get an idea of the length of the saree.

2.Try to wear heels with saree because they make your outfit look better and also keep your saree’s edge clean.

3.Make sure that the heels are not shown under the hem of a saree. Drape your saree low waist to look sexy and hide the base of your heels.

4. Always choose footwear according to the theme of your saree and not its color. For e.g. red footwear on a red saree will make you look like a clown. But, a saree that has silver embroidery will look great with silver footwear.

5.Avoid wearing flats with saree as there is always a chance that you might trip over on the heavy pleats.

6.Do not wear sports shoes, wedges heels, boots, flip-flop and floaters with your saree under any circumstances as they would definitely account for a fashion faux pas!

And don’t forget to checkout our footwear collection!

How to care for your dyed hair

Always prepare your hair

If you want good, long lasting hair even after you’ve got it coloured, you ought to prepare for the damage many months in advance. This includes ensuring that your hair is well-nourished and hydrated. Step up your oiling and hair mask game at least 2 months before you plan on dyeing your hair. Also, get regular trims and avoid heating tools.

Always bank on right dyes

A good quality hair dye which is sulphur free will go a long way in maintaining the health of your hair. If you are lifting the color with bleach, ensure you get the right developer for your hair color.

Wait before you shampoo

Don’t wash your hair for at least 48 hours. This is a mandatory step for anyone wishing their hair-color to last more than a week. Ideally, wait as long as you can.

Color-treated hair should always be cared for with mild shampoo and conditioner

Most shampoo and conditioner bottles will state if they are designed for color treated hair.

Wash you hair in the coldest water you can stand

Not just the first time, but all the time. Hot water dries out hair and skin, leaving it dull. Cold water will not only help you keep your color but also helps you keep your hair’s health and shine.

Dyeing is a repetitive process

Your hair shaft is delicate, and should only be dyed once a month or so. Any sooner than that and it will be prone to breaking, splitting, tangles and straw-like texture.

Hope these tips help you when you dye your hair!

Monsoon makeup tips

Monsoons provide a soothing effect to your skin after the harsh summer sun. During this season the skin tends to be naturally moisturised and sometimes this could be a bane as it leaves your skin feeling oily.

So here are a few makeup tips to get you through this monsoon season beautifully 🙂

Avoid foundation: Unless you like getting messed up. Instead replace foundation with face powder. This to an extent will help in keeping the look intact even if you get drenched.

Use powder in place of heavy base: However even while using face powder see to it that you use only as much as you need it. In other words use face powder to get rid of that greasy look and nothing more.

Blush: Use cream blushers instead of powder or any other type of blushes in the monsoon. The mantra is to use as less blush as you possibly can. Even if you get wet in rain remember to just dab it with a tissue and not rub it all over your face. Keep it subtle and beautiful.

Eyeshadow: The same goes with the eyeshadows as well. Use subtle colors like beige, brown, pink and so on. And yes when it comes to eye shadows use powdered eye shadows instead of creams. This will keep the eyeshadow from melting off on your face.

Mascara: Mascara should be a strict NO-NO during rainy season, until and unless it is very much necessary. Select water resistant mascaras that will at least stay for a while without getting smudged when wet.

Eyeliner and kajal: Use pencil liner over liquid eye liner in the monsoon. This will keep it from running all over your face when you get wet.

Lip Color: Settle down with long lasting range of lipsticks during monsoon. Matte is the best choice. Avoid lip gloss as it will get sticky and smudge easily when you get wet. Use dark color lipsticks as it will make you look a shade lighter than your actual complexion and also stay longer.

Hair: Do not leave your hair open during monsoons. Tie it up in a neat bun and use hair accessories to accentuate your look. You may even want to learn different types of braiding just to look more fashionable and chic.

Happy Monsoons!!

Makeup mistakes to avoid now!

1. Wrong shade of foundation

Just choose two shades that come closest to your skin tone, apply each of them to your jawline, then look in a mirror preferably in daylight. Use your own judgment to see which one looks most natural.

We recommend Maybelline New York Fit Me Matte Plus Poreless Foundation.

2. Applying Makeup to Dry Skin

Exfoliate your skin once a week because applying foundation onto dry skin will accentuate flakiness, and it will sit on the top of your face instead of blending in.

3. Wearing The Wrong Shade Of Blush

Blushes should complement your natural blush tone.If you are wearing a bolder lip, pair that to a subtle blush tone.

We recommend Maybelline Fit Me Blush.

4. Not Cleaning Your Brushes

Never apply makeup with dirty brushes or unwashed sponges as it doesn’t help the makeup looking fresh. Wash your tools with a mild shampoo or instant brush cleaner and replace your sponges regularly.

5. Not Testing Makeup At All

You have to try on your makeup. You can’t trust what it looks like in the bottle as liquid products oxidize on the skin and in the air, changing the color and texture.”

6. Applying Too Much Powder

Over powdering throughout the day can make your face appear heavy and cakey. Keep it subtle.

We recommend Colorbar Perfect Match Compact.

7. Curling Your Lashes Last

Curlers work best usually on clean lashes so there’s no chance of ripping any out. Apply mascara on clean lashes and wait for it to dry.

We recommend Lakme Absolute Flutter Secrets Dramatic Eyes Mascara.

Ace the shirt with lehenga trend

It’s not easy to be a trendsetter. It takes a lot of courage and an eye for good fashion aesthetics! While we truly admire the women of Haryana to be our inspiration, we’d also like to acknowledge our designers like – Manish Malhotra & Anita Dongre for bringing this concept into the limelight and with so much panache!

Lehengas are outfits usually worn for weddings or really traditional ethnic gatherings. So its obvious that this garment required a makeover in terms for it being re-used and also adding a dash of uniqueness so that it doesn’t look drab every time one decides to wear it.

The most innovative way in which this could be tackled was to replace the choli or blouse with something more wearable. The best fit for this seemed to be the shirt, it changes the traditional appeal of the lehenga giving it a more semi-casual or a bohemian look.

Our first reflection of this trend seems to be inspired from the Haryanvi women of rural Haryana.

Here are a few ways in which you could accessorize your look while wearing this trend.

  • Wearing a chunky neckpiece on a plain shirt would be a superb choice provided your lehenga skirt isn’t very embellished.
  • If you are up for some uber cool fashion, teaming your lehenga with a shirt and a pair of boots could definitely give you some good compliments!
  • If you like a mix of the traditional ethnic look wearing this trend with a nathani could be your next best option.

We recently saw Huma Qureshi  wearing a full sleeved blue collar silk shirt along with a lavender Gold Lehenga by Manish Malhotra to support the Cancer Patients Aid Association at NSCI, Mumbai. Also spotted during one of the TV shows – Alia Bhatt wearing a Manish Malhotra lehenga with a shirt.

Since this is a very offbeat trend we would not advise you to wear this trend to a formal occasion as the lehenga in itself isn’t a very formal garment. But you can definitely wear this trend to evening parties and social gatherings.
