gggYou probably don’t give much thought as to what you wear on the treadmill or to run a few miles in the park, but with new athletic brands coming  up every month, it might be time to give your standard  T-shirt and sweats an upgrade. In the spirit of a new year, we’ve highlighted fitness style trends that’ll help you get the most out of each.

Yoga With A Twist

TREND:  If you haven’t tried a weird, fusion yoga class yet, you haven’t lived (we kid…kind of). While some yoga places keep the intensity low, others turn the heat way up, so take solace in the fact that you have options—and will never be bored again.

THE STYLE ESSENTIALS: Picking out clothes for these classes can be tricky for obvious reasons, which is why we think the ballerina approach to getting dressed is best. Leggings, bodysuits, second-skin tanks, and—OK, bear with us here—full length bodysuits will keep you moving gracefully in every which way.

Cardio At Home

THE TREND: Digital workouts you can do in the comfort of your apartment, hotel room, or basement are on fire right now. Live-streamed group classes, one -on-one sessions, virtual classes ..thank God we’ve moved beyond those 30-minute thigh workout DVDs.

THE STYLE ESSENTIALS: Cardio in the privacy of your home demands one thing: A totally wacky-awesome outfit you might not wear at public gym that makes your workout much more fun. We’re talking a bright sports bra, trippy-print leggings, and high pigtail buns for days.

Mindful Exercise

THE TREND :Whether you are going for a meditation class, taking a leisurely nature walk, or indulging in a stretching sessions with a friend, 2017 is the year of letting some serious chill into your workout in order to foster a feeling of well-being on the inside too. Even if it’s technically your #restday anyway.

THE ESSENTIALS: For barely-broke-a-sweat workouts you want clothes that move with your body but don’t go over with technical details. Cozy-cute sweats, supersoft tees, and kicks you could easily spend the whole day wearing.

Cycling To Work

THE TREND: Need to save money and get in shape in 2017?. Millennials are walking and cycling to work in greater numbers than ever before as a way to reduce their expenses and add a workout onto their so-not-9-to-5 days.

THE STYLE ESSENTIALS: While your strategy for workout attire will be determined partly by your climate and office dress-code, generally speaking, a cyclist needs three key things: a bag that closes securely and keeps hands free, pants that won’t get caught in the gears, and sneakers—not heels—with good  friction on the bottom.
