1940’s

In THE 40'sThe style and fashion of 1940s bore a huge stamp mark of 2nd world war and the Independence war, and hence a few trends were influenced from European fashion that was passing through the brunt of Second World War.Khadi and handcrafted clothes were also high on demand. Famous actresses like Begum Para, Leela Chitnis, Meena kumari, Madhubala, Ashalata were the trendsetters of that decade.

1950’s

In THE 50'sBritish Raj hangover was still there in India, which led the way for classy fashion. Neat buns and hairstyles, Corset blouses and gowns, elegant sarees, anarkalis, elaborate sleeves were all a part of that decade that paved the way for popular fashion.

1960’s

In THE 60's (1)The bikini and minis came into the scene. Sharmila Tagore was one of the first heroines of Bollywood to introduce swimsuits in India. It was he decade of ruffles, scarves and big hair. Stars like Saira Banu, Zeenat Aman and Mumtaz were the shining stars of the decade. The Mumtaz-style Sari is still one of the most iconic Bollywood looks.

1970’s

In THE 70's (1)This decade saw the bohemian side of Zeenat Aman and Helen rock the Cabaret in feathers and diamonds. This is the decade in which Fresh-faced Dimple Kapadia wore polka dots with a cute mini skirt for the movie “Bobby”. The 70s were the most glamourous decade of all, and are still called the most fashionable years of Bollywood.

1980’s

In THE 80's80s were a time when superstar divas, Sridevi, Rekha ruled the trend of India with their bright sarees and red lips,the trends were aped blindly and were extremely popular at that time. Fitted salwar kameez, lyrical chiffon sarees, and experimental dresses or costumes rather, It was a mixed bag truly!

1990’s

In THE 90'sThe 90s were all about casualwear and sportswear. Crop tops, midi skirts and denim overalls became raging trends.With movies like “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai” and “Dilwale dulhania le jaenge”sportswear and casualwear became acceptable as daytime clothing. However, ethnic was not left behind during this decade as we had “Hum aapke hain koun”, and “hum saath saath hain”.

2000’s

In THE 00'sThis age was about redefining fashion. Kajol, Karishma, Raveena, Aishwarya were style icons, In later part of the decade Priyanka, Kareena and Katrina made their smooth entries in bollywood. Manish Malhotra, Aki Narula, Neeta Lulla and Sabyasachi became household names thanks to popular bollywood fashion.

2010’s

In THE 10's (1)It’s been just five years into the current decade and fashion in Bollywood has already revised itself and turned out into the fashionable era, it’s ever been. Stars like Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez, Sonam Kapoor and Alia Bhatt have been filed in the “Celeb Styles To Follow” folder.
